Maureen Denise McCormick was born on August 5, 1956 at Woodland Hills, California, the sole daughter of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick. She was raised by her mother, who was household worker and father who was a teacher. Michael Dennis Kevin is one of her older siblings. McCormick started singing and performing in the early stages of her life. She also performed for children in the neighborhood. At the tender age of six, she was crowned her first prize in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley competition. It led her to receive a telephone call to Pat Domigan at the Jack Wormser Agency to inquire whether the girl might like to pursue a career within the entertainment business. McCormick got her first big job in 1964, as she appeared in an advertisement on television for Mattel's new doll "Baby Pattaburp." The same year, she starred in another advertisement for Mattel's doll "Chatty Caty" and soon was cast at La Jolla Playhouse for in the character of eldest daughter on the new TV sitcom The Brady Bunch. McCormick was portrayed as the youngest of three daughters with two heads in The Brady Bunch TV comedy The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson played the lead role while Robert Reed was the father. This show lasted for five seasons. McCormick stated in her 2008 book, Here's The Story: Surviving Marcia Brady & Finding My True Voice that she nearly losing her virginity in the fifth season of the show with Barry Williams, her co-star as well as her on-screen brother. She was just 16 at the time; Barry was just 19. "It could have been a possibility," she said, "but it was not the time right for us."
